JOB DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities
- Pick berries by hand, being careful to select only ripe, undamaged fruit.
- Sort berries meticulously based on size, colour, and ripeness to ensure consistency in the final product.
- Pack and label berries for shipment with careful attention to detail, making sure to follow all labelling requirements.
- Conduct quality control checks at various stages of the process to ensure that only the highest quality berries make it to market.
- Clean picking areas regularly to ensure safety and sanitation for all workers.
- Other plant husbandry work as requested
- Operate vehicles and follow safety procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate safety gear and obeying traffic rules.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to ensure that everyone is working together efficiently and effectively.
- Assist other employees when necessary to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform basic recording tasks, such as keeping track of the number of berries picked or the amount of time spent working, and housekeeping tasks as assigned to keep the work area clean and organized.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods of time.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- To be available to work up to six days a week which includes weekends.
- To be flexible and available to start work from 6:00 am to various finishing times.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision.
- No prior experience in berry harvesting is required.
Work will commence from the 1st of September with new recruits coming on mostly fortnightly to weekly until the end of January.
All induction and training will be provided prior to you commencing work. Potential to upskill to Supervisor or Field Assistant roles with training provided (Limited).
