About the manufacturing plant
Our Deer Park chemical manufacturing facility 15km's West of Melbourne CBD, Victoria is a critical epicentre of Orica's AusPac business.
This iconic Orica site has been used since circa 1875 for the manufacturing, storage and dispatch of explosive materials mostly used in the blasting process in many quarrying, heavy infrastructure and mining projects across Australia and overseas.
About the role
The core responsibilities of a Plant Operator is to transfer, mix and despatch chemicals using plant equipment and machinery. The Production Operator will be responsible of ensuring products are made and despatched safely, effectively and efficiently and to required standards.
The successful candidates will be working on an even-time 12-hour rotating roster which will including day and night shifts.
What you will be doing
- Producing batches of emulsifier by transferring, mixing and reacting chemicals in bulk reactors;
- Ensuring plant areas and equipment are maintained to operational standards;
- Maintaining accurate material documentation, eg dockets, stock levels;
- Assisting chemists/engineers trial new product/process;
- Transporting loads including using forklift and bulk transfers;
- Conforming to all safety, health and environment procedures.
- Safety as a core value;
- Preferred process plant experience in heavy industries or manufacturing plants;
- Demonstrated knowledge of chemicals, production operation skills, material handling/distribution skills, product/process skills;
- Motivation to learn new skills and willingness to progress to a control room operator:
- Forklift license is a must have;
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
