The Role
Reporting into the Engineering Manager (Platforms), you will be a part of diverse and highly skilled Platform Engineers.
You will be responsible for the operational delivery, maintenance and enhancement, end to end, of MLC Life Insurance's infrastructure environment, with an opportunity to be exposed to various cloud, networks and security platforms.
You will play a hands-on role, responsible for all storage and backup systems, including day-to-day tasks such as patching and maintenance, as well as project work, such as our ongoing modernization in the cloud environment.
From time to time, your role may also require providing out of hours on-call support and providing support to P1 and P2 incidents.
About you
An experienced Infrastructure Engineer, you possess a minimum of 3+ years of experience in a broad network and/or operational role.
As someone who is growing and developing in their career, you have an insatiable thirst for knowledge, coupled with the ability to pick up hands-on expertise in new technologies and technology concepts.
Other technical requirements include:
• Backup Administration across systems such as Veeam, Commvault, AWS Backup and Azure Backup
• Highly proficient with backup scripting, optimisation and automation
• Hands on experience working with and managing vSAN in VMWare
• Broad experience with server and compute virtualisation platforms (e.g. VMWare)
• Windows Server (20012 - 2022) and Linux (RHEL 7 & 9)
• Experience with virtualisation backup (snapshots), copy data management, application, cloud, and cluster aware backups
• Knowledge of best practice for MS SQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle backups.
• Experience working on Enterprise Storage platforms, across multiple vendors, and similar systems
• Experience with Enterprise data protection and disaster recovery solutions
• Proven ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, good team player in dynamic work group environments
• Solid understanding of networking theory and core internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks)
• Exposure to containerization with Kubernetes, OpenShift or ECS
• Some experience in automation tooling (e.g. Ansible and Terraform)
