As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Slyp platform, with a passion for problem solving. You will make recommendations and help to create and maintain cloud services for developers that use this infrastructure for their software. You will need great collaboration and communication skills as you will spend a large part of your role interacting with developers and non-technical stakeholders. You will have expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud.You will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications and an ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, experience in managing staff, and advanced industry knowledge are essential to keep us on the cutting edge. The Platform Engineer will have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of IT operations and an ongoing impact on growth.Core Responsibilities

- Solve challenging product and engineering problems pragmatically, elegantly and simply.
- Engaging with the engineering group in code reviews, planning, architecture, design and infrastructure discussions.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to improve engineering tools, procedures, and data security.
- Improve the use of automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines) to help reduce the operational time required to get changes to production.
- Conduct system testing around platform / infrastructure security, performance, and availability.
- Contributing to the on-going maintenance and support of the platform.

- React is our future for our web products - but we are currently a mix of both React and Angular.
- We lean heavily on AWS serverless technologies such as API Gateway (including CloudFront, WAF and Shield), Lambda, Kinesis and SQS.
- We have traditional NodeJS services running in EKS / Kubernetes.
- We store data in AWS RDS(Postgres), DynamoDB, Redshift and S3.
- Our data lake is based on AWS serverless technologies such as Kinesis, Lambda, S3 and Glue.

- Strong experience as a generalist Platform Engineer with broad technical skills across Cloud platforms, Networking, Security and Storage.
- You have a deep knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and services such as CloudFormation, ELB / ALB, API Gateway, Kinesis, Lambda, ElasticCache, ElasticSearch, DynamoDB, Aurora and S3.
- You are skilled at automation and infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Experience in containerisation especially around Kubernetes and EKS/ECS.
- Experience with supporting microservices at scale with high reliability and resilience.
- Experience using a variety of databases including Aurora(PostgreSQL) and DynamoDB.
- Practical experience in cloud software engineering and best practices with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with observability and incident management.
- Exposure to configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Experience with security best practices on cloud environments around data management.
- Software development background and knowledge of programming and scripting languages.
