The Platform Engineer will encourage and support DevOps practices across Engineering from a centralised Platform team, through tooling, vendor support, and training.
Key Responsibilities
This role calls for a DevOps enthusiast who can use their experience to:
- drive improvement of DevOps practises across engineering, through tooling, workshops, pairing, presentations, etc.
- consider and improve the Littlepay software ecosystem across the full build-test-deploy- release-monitor cycle
- maintain and improve build systems to the level of security required in a PCI environment
- support standard devops tooling across the business
You’ll also be required to:
- write and maintain internal tools and services
- support the Littlepay engineering function
- do some grinding from time to time
Requirements
CoreSkills and Attributes
- programming — any language. Familiarity with Java and Go preferred
- communication — we do a lot of communicating and strong written and verbal will be important
- empathy — we’re a service provider, so having high empathy for our internal stakeholders is a big deal
- a love of learning — we take learning and growth seriously and you’ll need to be down with that
For this role we are specifically looking for candidates who are strong in:
- DevOps — releasing software is your jam, you know what a DORA metric is and how to use it to improve processes, experience with Buildkite preferred
- DevSecOps — security is at the heart of everything we do, so must be considered a fundamental part of the DevOps cycle
- “The cloud” — we use AWS, but the key here is experience with fundamental cloud services: network, storage, compute
- observability — have strong opinions about logs, traces, metrics, and alarms born from experience, experience with Honeycomb and CloudWatch preferred
