Our client, a large, Australian Government financial intelligence agency, who set up and monitor financial transactions to identify money laundering, organised crime, tax evasion, welfare fraud and terrorism financing, are Seeking the experience of a PlatformEngineer (Kubernetes - DevOps) for a 4+ month contract, based in Chatswood, NSW.
Duties of the Platform Engineer (Kubernetes - DevOps)
- Work closely with the development and product teams to bring their applications through the SDLC (software development lifecycle) from cloud-deployed development environments through to internal and protected production Kubernetes runtime environment using Kustomize, Helm and Ansible.
- Help the platforms team design, develop and support our platform technology stacks that the client's products run on including: Spark, zookeeper, Kafka, Elastic: logstash, elasticsearch, kibana, yarn/hdfs, Apps: Springboot/React JS/Docker/k8s/helm/kustomise, Nginx, Tomcat, Apache proxy and mod_security, Postgres + HA proxy, Forgerock OpenAM/IDM/DS.
- Build and support Cloud development + on prem development/test and production environments.
- Maintain and support the underlying Kubernetes platform (installed via Ansible and Kubespray + Cluster manager). Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may occur with the Kubernetes runtime environment and applications running on it.
- Work closely with the Unix, Networks and Security teams to ensure that all our platforms are running in an optimal and secure fashion.
- Perform and automate release and deployment management (fitting in with the Service Management strategy).
- Be proficient in the use of, scritping (e.g. bash/python) and administration aspects of linux/unix systems.
- Automate with Ansible any infrastructure that the platform team install and configure.
- Support the development tool sets that the team look after: Jenkins, Nexus, Atlassian Jira/Confluence/bitbucket, Chartmuseum, GitLab.
- Support decommission or migration of legacy technologies Tomcat on VMs, mule, Oracle.
- Support platform monitoring and security products including: Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, other security scanning products, application firewalls.
Skills and Experience Required
- Experience in using, developing, building, managing or administering Kubernetes clusters.
- Experience in automation scripting skills, including Ansible, bash, python.
- Experience with Docker.
- Strong skills and experience in Unix use and/or administration particularly with command line, scripting and python.
- Unix system administrators.
- Experience delivering DevOps and continuous delivery outcomes using continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) tools (such as Jenkins or Bamboo).
- Experience supporting developers and product team applications from development to production.
- Experience in administering and supporting or developing in one or more of the technology stacks that the client's products run on: Spark, zookeeper, Kafka, Elastic: logstash, elasticsearch, kibana, yarn/hdfs, Apps: Springboot/React JS/Docker/k8s/helm/kustomise, Nginx, Tomcat, Apache proxy and mod_security, Postgres + HA proxy, Forgerock OpenAM/IDM/DS.
- Strong skills and experience using GIT.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent IT industry experience or qualification.
- Strong Development skills or Strong Operations skills or a mixture (DevOps).
