Platform Engineering Team Lead

Currently, they continue to expand operations, and are seeking a highly skilled Platform Engineering Lead to join the team in Canberra.

Overview
As the Platform Engineering Lead, you will play a crucial role in driving the design, implementation, and management of secure platforms in alignment with Azure services. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Platform Engineering, including security, governance, and data engineering practices. This role requires a proactive leader with extensive experience in managing teams, stakeholder engagement, security best practice and governance and ITIL processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of secure platforms on Azure, ensuring compliance with security and governance best practices.
• Utilise your expertise in data engineering technologies such as NiFi, Kafka, Elastic, or HD Insights to develop robust data pipelines and processing solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the Platform Engineering Team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Drive the adoption of ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with organisational standards.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

• Must possess NV1, OSA or ESA security clearances.
• Extensive experience working with Azure cloud services, including proficiency in platform design and implementation.
• Strong background in security and governance best practices, with a focus on maintaining compliance in secure environments.
• Proven expertise in data engineering technologies such as NiFi, Kafka, Elastic, or HD Insights.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels of an organisation, including technical and non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and their application in a production environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience. (Nice to have)
