Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counsellor/Play Therapist/Social Worker to join our team. This role involves working with children as young as two years old up to adolescents, as well as working alongside their parents and caregivers, to address a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing quality, evidence-based play therapy and/or counselling services for children and young people aged 2 - 18
- Having a solid understanding of trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and attachment models
- Building a strong rapport with families and external stakeholders such as childcares, schools, child safety and community services
- Following procedures and policies in regard to privacy and data management etc
- Having a sound understanding of various systems (NDIS, child safety) and working within their guidelines
- Following relevant guidelines within your association in relation to best practice and working within your scope
- Being proficient in the use of client information management systems
Key Requirements:
- Qualified and registered Social Worker/counsellor (Bachelor qualified or above)
- Registration with relevant body (PACFA/ACA/AASW)
- Current Blue Card
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain
- NDIS Worker Registration or ability to obtain
- Clinical experience working with children, young people, and parents/carers using appropriate therapeutic approaches
- Experience working with trauma, family separation, anxiety, depression, etc. from a neuro-affirming model of care
- Play therapy experience/training a big bonus
- Minimum 3 days (Tues/Thurs/Fri non-negotiable). Additional days are possible if desired
