Policy and Engagement Officer opportunity
- Approx. $55-$65 per hour plus Super
- Full-time, 3-month contract. Immediate Start
- Melbourne CBD location/Working from Home Arrangement
About the role
Government department seeks an experienced Policy and Engagement Officer to join them on a full-time, 3-month contract located in Melbourne CBD. As the Policy and Engagement Officer, you will work alongside Policy and project colleagues on undertaking key stakeholder engagement activities to deliver innovative policy advice to government about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Victoria. As the Policy and Engagement Officer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of economic policy that responds to new and innovative AI-related priorities across Victoria.
Key duties
Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Providing practical advice on economic, social, and environmental policy issues to senior management and government
- Researching and analysis on complex economic, social, environmental, financial and/or public policy issues
- Delivering briefings and policy advice that support the strategic direction of the work group and department
- Identifying opportunities for stakeholder engagement and implementing engagement processes including the preparation of stakeholder engagement document, logistical support of engagement events, analysis of feedback to inform policy summaries and reports
- Preparing high-quality written policy documents.
Key Selection Criteria
The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:
- Well-developed analytical and research skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills including the preparation and delivery of key engagement activities
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to influence outcomes
- Experience in providing high-quality advice both verbally and in writing
- Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively manage competing work priorities
- Proven project coordination skills with an understanding of project management controls and the ability to assist in the development and implementation of project management systems
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Economics, Econometrics, Commerce, Statistics, or related field is required
- Experience in data modelling, forecasting and analytics would be highly regarded but not required
