POLICY OFFICER
NSW Irrigators’ Council (NSWIC) is the peak body representing more than 12,000 agricultural water users across NSW. NSWIC is a leader in sustainable and productive water policy solutions, and advocates for and advises on best-practice water management.
Our members are based in in every Murray-Darling Basin valley of NSW and several coastal valleys. Members include commodity groups in the rice, cotton and horticulture sectors; State and valley-based farmer and irrigator organisations; and irrigation infrastructure operators (IIOs).
We are seeking an existing or aspiring Policy Officer with an understanding of policy development (ideally in natural resource management or sustainable agriculture), and a keen interest in water policy. The Policy Officer will work with the Chief Executive Officer and other staff on all aspects of water policy and program development relevant to the irrigation sector in NSW.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Good analytical skills and the ability to help develop sound, evidence-based policy.
- Good communication skills and empathy with rural stakeholders.
- Capacity to work in teams or independently, in a fast-paced working environment.
- Relevant qualifications, such as in law, natural resource management, agriculture, environment, or economics.
The Policy Officer reports to the Chief Executive Officer, and will work closely with executive and policy staff of NSWIC member organisations. This is a challenging but rewarding full-time role with an attractive remuneration package.
