About the Role
They are currently seeking a Policy Officer with Education, Child Welfare or Social policy experience to join their growing team in Parramatta with some flexibility to work remotely from home. This an estimated 11month temporary assignment, with a potential to extend.
Working within the Advocate for Children & Young People (ACYP) Executive & Business Services Division, you will be responsible for initiating research and policy development whilst providing evidence based analysis and specialist advice to develop high quality social policy which drives reform and better outcomes for Children, Young People and communities.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and delivery of policy initiatives that address the needs of client groups
- Deliver on multifaceted policy projects within agreed timeframes
- Undertake research & analysis, identifying trends and issues, mitigating risks
- Gather and collate information, make evidence-based recommendations to support informed decision making outcomes
- Partner, engage and consult with key stakeholders, building rapport and strong relationships
- Coordinate working groups, committee meetings and stakeholder consultations to support engagement and collaboration
- Preparation of high-level documentation including discussion papers, briefs, reports and submissions
- Review and prepare policy advice to ensure alignment with policy directions
- Develop solutions that support sound policy decisions and approaches
- Report, monitor and evaluate projects and policy development towards key objectives
- Ensure effective interface between policy development, program development, planning, service design and policy implementation
- Work effectively within the team, providing feedback on each other’s policy research and analysis
- Ensure compliance with best practice and legislative requirements
About You
- Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
- Solid analytical, negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills
- Superior organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
- High attention to detail
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite
- Passionate and driven towards achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable Children & Young People
Requirements
- Tertiary Qualifications in Policy or an equivalent field
- Demonstrated Child Welfare, Social Justice Outcomes Policy/Projects experience
- Education Policy experience advantageous
- Exposure to working within a complex, sensitive, confidential and political environment
- Extensive policy analysis and project management experience
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
- Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
