The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Port Operative to provide day-to-day on ground support for operational issues associated with shipping movements and to provide high quality maintenance and repairs to property, plant and equipment at TasPorts King Island facilities. Working within a small team this role is multi-faceted.
This is a casual position based at King Island.
Role responsibilities:
- Undertake all repair and maintenance requirements of appropriate infrastructure, plant and equipment in a timely and efficient manner
- Undertake stevedoring activities as required
- Assist with the berthing and letting go of vessels
- Undertake security duties as required
- Undertake coxswain duties on the lines boat as required
- Slip boats at Currie and carry out routine maintenance

What you will have (essential):
- Working at heights training
- Confined space training
- Current first aid qualification
- Open forklift licence
- Ability to acquire and hold a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
Desirable:
- Possession of Dogman certificate
- Possession of basic rigging training
- Chainsaw operations licence
- Radio operations certificate
- Dangerous goods licence
- Winch operations licence
- HC Drivers licence
- Coxswain certificate
- Current Safety at Sea Certificate
