Around half of Queensland’s trade, by tonnage, passes through our ports at Weipa, Abbot Point, Mackay and Hay Point, which makes us one of Queensland’s largest Port Authorities.

In line with our mission, we take great care to provide safe, sustainable and competitive seaPort Services to efficiently facilitate imports and exports through our Queensland ports.

The Role

Make your next career move into a role where you will be part of efficient, safe and effective Port Services to Mackay. Reporting to the Team Leader Horticultural, this role will have the opportunity to shape our apprentices/trainees in Horticultural and the management of our Port land. Services include undertaking a support role in the first strike response in the event of a marine pollution incident, undertaking shipping activities and general repairs, construction and ground maintenance services.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Required to hold a current Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) or the ability to obtain a MSIC.
  • Current Class Driver’s License.
  • Hold a minimum of Certificate III in Horticultural or equivalent.
  • Experience and broad understanding of minor/general maintenance in a harbour/port or operation facility.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Ability to understand and follow inspection and maintenance plans, drawings and standards, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
