As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you'll be an integral part of our amazing team in Geelong. Joining our fantastic Positive Behaviour Support Team, you'll have the opportunity to create personalized strategies that positively impact the lives of individuals with disabilities. Your focus will be on responsiveness and improving the quality of life for our clients, aiming to reduce behaviours of concern and minimize the use of restrictive practices.
By joining our PBS Team, you'll play a vital role in realizing our mission: to enhance people's quality of life through the principles of Positive Behaviour Support and by prioritizing the least restrictive options. You'll also contribute to increasing the capacity of our staff and the wider community through education, cultural understanding, and support in implementing Positive Behaviour Support principles and best practices.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Tertiary qualification or currently studying in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Diploma Community Services, or at least 5 years of experience in developing or overseeing Behaviour Supports according to the PBS Capability Framework.
- Clinical knowledge and expertise in conducting functional behaviour assessments and comprehensive Behaviour Support planning.
- Experience providing services to individuals and children with disabilities with complex behaviour needs.
- Familiarity with NDIS Commission Behaviour Support Rules and relevant disability legislation.
- Strong understanding of best practice Positive Behaviour Support, evidence-based approaches, and trauma-informed practice.
- Dedication to improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and a demonstrated passion for reducing restrictive intervention.
- A positive and proactive attitude, always considering the well-being of others.
- Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, conflict negotiation, and resolution abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and support others in delivering effective Behaviour Support.
