Reporting to the Senior Lecturer, the Postdoc Research Associate will apply and develop their expertise in conducting research to further the research agenda of The Bone Microenvironment Group, Cancer Theme. The area of focus being investigation of novel mechanisms underlying metastatic spread of breast cancer. They are a subject matter expert and provide advice as the first point of contact for their expert area. They also resolve routine matters related to responsibilities and collaborate with others to resolve complex matters.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
conduct research or scholarly activity (either independently or as part of a team) within discipline or area of expertise
develop and refine research skills and independent research under the supervision of more senior academic staff within the School/ Faculty (with an increasing degree of autonomy)
lead and perform animal-based studies. This includes colony management, animal interventions and surgery, sample preparation for microCT, histology, flow cytometry, in vitro techniques, live cell and intravital fluorescent microscopy
maintain high quality, standards and excellence in any research activities and output
undertake administration primarily related to their activities at the University.
About you
PhD in a relevant area
a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector
demonstrated understanding of the subject-matter within the discipline
experience in conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity
experience leading animal-based projects and expertise in surgical procedures and in vivo imaging
capacity to perform laboratory-based techniques including flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy and cell culture models
possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
