About the opportunity
The University of Sydney’s Henry Halloran Research Trust is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate. This position is an opportunity for a postdoctoral scholar with an emerging record of scholarship across at least one of the Henry Halloran Research Trust research themes, as well as a strong interest in research management, translation and engagement. It combines time for the scholar to develop their own work through publication and grant activities, with structured involvement in the Trust’s funded research projects and public events.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Directly contribute to the Research Trust’s research capacity and publications
play a leading role in disseminating research and research informed commentary including government submissions and media engagement associated with the Scholar’s own research and expertise as well key translational publications such as evidence reviews and or explainers
support broader dissemination of work produced by Trust affiliated researchers through the Festival of Urbanism Review, government submissions, and web / media items.
support the Research Trust’s program of public events, including the Festival of Urbanism as well as events throughout the year, including proposing and developing one off or event series, identifying and liaising with speakers, and overseeing promotional material associated with these events, such as media releases.
collaborate with the Trust’s event and web support officers around events and publicity
working with the Trust’s Director, support research grant programs including funding application and administration processes as well as research monitoring and support
working with the Trust’s Director, support the Trust’s reporting and governance activities, including by attending Advisory Board meetings and contributing to meeting preparation and actions arising.
About you
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate who possesses:
A PhD in relevant field
demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively across a range of media and forums
experience in conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activities
demonstrated commitment to research dissemination, translation, and end-user engagement in research
proven strong organisational and communication skills.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
