  • Full time, fixed term until June 2027
  • Opportunity to join the School of Medical Sciences based within the ANZAC Research Institute at Concord Hospital as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow
  • Base Salary starting from $118,390 + 17% superannuation

Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.

As a Research Fellow, you work as part of a groundbreaking multidisciplinary team located at the ANZAC Research Institute that is focused on understanding how our nanomedicines improve drug delivery and health outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • undertake original research (either independently or as part of a team) within discipline or area of expertise
  • maintain a research profile, including publication of book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, conference and/or seminar papers
  • develop research collaborations and engage in translational research that result in knowledge or technology transfer leading to commercialisation, improved policy or practice, or enhancement to industry, the profession or community
  • contribute to applications for competitive research grants or funding to deliver research impact
  • maintain quality, standards and excellence in research activities and output
  • provide informal mentoring and guidance to lower-level academics and supervise postgraduate research students or projects where appropriate
  • carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty/school meetings
  • maintains an understanding of the University's strategic agenda and contributes to furthering that agenda
  • maintains active involvement with discipline, including assisting with the organisation of seminars, conferences and activities.

About you

  • PhD in liver physiology, cell biology or diabetes
  • A background in pharmacology or pharmacy
  • experience in working on liver based experiments using multi modalities such as microscopy, cell isolations, flow cytometry and proteomics
  • a keen interest in metabolic signaling pathways, nutrient sensing and/or mitochondrial metabolism and dysfunction
  • a developing network of national and international relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders
  • a developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality research in the area of liver metabolism, cell biology or drug development.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
