About the role:
Reporting to the Poultry Farm Manager, this position is responsible for raising poultry by providing chicks with food, water and shelter while ensuring that they remain healthy and free from disease.
We are looking for Full time worker in Cawdor NSW who is flexible to cover various shifts and weekend work at our Cawdor NSW area.
Responsibilities, tasks and duties:
- Following and maintaining strict biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of disease.
- Ensure bird have access to food and water
- Maintain high standards of animal welfare
- Cleaning and filling feeders and water containers.
- Inspects poultry for diseases and removes weak, ill, and dead poultry from flock.
- Monitor feed, water, illumination, and ventilation systems; and cleans, adjusts, lubricates, and replaces systems parts, using hand tools.
- Evaluating the condition of chicks to ensure that they are healthy and comfortable.
- Feeding chickens with specialist diets designed to promote.
- Ordering feed, vaccines, and other supplies as needed
- Ensuring compliance with all government regulations related to Poultry Farming growth or prevent disease.
- Observing the behavior of chicks to detect changes in activity level or feather condition.
- Keeping records of feed consumption, and health conditions of poultry
- Comply with company’s policies and procedures.
To be successful for this role you will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Previous Poultry Farm hand experience is desirable but not mandatory.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
- Must be able to do manual handling work with a lifting capacity up to 20kg.
- Can follow quarantine standards, biosecurity standards and adherence to the prescribed shower procedures.
- The flexibility in regard to working hours which may include working overtime and weekends.
- High level of numeracy and literacy skills
- Person should have own transportation.
