Its founder and shareholders have in excess of 30 years experience in the meat chicken industry and are looking to grow the business and bring staff and stakeholders on the journey. Agright currently operate across Australia and New Zealand.
We are seeking a Broiler Trainee Farm Manager to support the management team to manage modern Barn Chicken Farms in Goolgowi, North West of Griffith NSW. The role is a live in position and accommodation will be provided.
Role Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Farm Manager to autonomously manage all aspects of the farming operation at Goolgowi – postcode 2652.
To assist and learn from the Farm Manager and Assistant Farm Manager in the daily operational aspects of managing the broiler farm including site management, with the greatest priority being the welfare of the chickens that Agright is entrusted to care for. Assist in ensuring that the facilities are maintained to the highest standard and the site is immaculately presented at all times, whilst ensuring that the business operates efficiently to deliver agreed performance targets.
Direct Reports:
Farm hands and casual staff will report to this position. You will work with the farm management team within a 24/7 farm monitoring roster so applicants must be able to work weekends and nights. This also includes Contractor Management from time to time.
Duties and training include (But not limited to):
• Monitoring and reporting on KPI’s and other metrics as required.
• Creating an environment that drives continuous improvement in all aspects of the farming department, environmental awareness, animal welfare, quality, productivity and safety.
• Ensuring biosecurity, health and safety, environmental and animal welfare procedures are always adhered to.
• Ensuring positive working relationships are maintained with producer company representatives.
• Using best practise and innovative shed management techniques in order to ensure optimum bird growing requirements without compromising any animal welfare and processor standards.
• Maintaining and presenting the farm and the structures to the highest standards possible at all times
• Training, motivating and leading the farming team to achieve quality outcomes in a professional manner.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the following:
• 2 years experience in farm management practices; livestock skills will be helpful.
• Proven people management and industrial relations skills;
• Proven Workplace Health and Safety systems management and creating a culture of safety first work practices;
• A desire to develop a continuous improvement culture that constantly delivers performance and process improvement;
• Day to day on-site maintenance capabilities;
• An ability to challenge the norm and think outside of the square to achieve results;
• Good computer skills will be beneficial.
