Redflow, a publicly listed Australian company with offices in Australia and the US, designs and manufactures long-duration zinc-bromine flow batteries for stationary commercial, industrial, and utility applications.
As the world transitions to net zero, energy storage is becoming increasingly more important to support a renewables-based grid and Redflow is committed to the development of their next generation flow-based battery technology to meet this demand.
Redflow batteries are modular, scalable, fire-safe, and capable of 100% depth of discharge. They can also operate in a wide range of environments without supplemental heating or cooling and offer an extended life with minimal degradation over time. Redflow’s energy storage solutions have been in use for more than a decade at more than 250 sites in over 9 countries.
You will be part of a growing dedicated engineering team that will be at the forefront of this new technology development. The role is responsible for the approval of engineering models, and reports, electrical calculations, design layouts, site layout drawings and cost estimates.
From an operational and delivery perspective, the Power Systems Engineer will:
- Building DC and AC Electrical BESS models in modelling-based software the likes of HOMER etc.
- Developing technical requirements for connection application
- Power System Analysis Studies
- Creation of Manufacturing and other associated documentation.
- Battery Management System (BMS) functionality mapping
- Energy Management System (EMS) compatibility assessment.
- Cross team collaboration.
To be successful in this role you will have experience as a Power Systems Engineer within a similar industry and product offering. You will have experience across the following:
- Engineering degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering. Of interest would be Advanced degree in electrical or electronic engineering or equivalent (Masters or PhD)
- Product development experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in electronics, energy storage, embedded software based product environments. Experience in some areas of development across these domains.
- Skills and knowledge of system production and reliability engineering.
- Product improvement experience – Continuous Improvement activities, Lean approach, FMEA’s etc.
- Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Has an inquisitive nature and is not afraid to dive deep to root cause problems.
- In addition to being a highly skilled Power Systems Engineer, you are friendly, approachable and can build relationships with others in the team. You’re a great listener and understand that everyone has a different skill set and perspective.
- Ability to successfully collaborate with technical and non-technical staff.
- A team player that can also ensure individual workload is successfully delivered.
