About Melbourne Teaching Health Clinics
Melbourne Teaching Health Clinics (MTHC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Melbourne and provides world class clinical training opportunities for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences students. It also provides patient access to high quality health care for members of the Victorian community, within a private practice setting. There are six clinical areas that are central to this service, and they include general medical practice, dentistry, optometry, audiology, speech pathology and psychology.

About Shepparton Medical Centre
Shepparton Medical Centre (SMC) was established in 2010, the first purpose-built, multidisciplinary teaching clinic in Australia created to increase the quality and capacity of medical education in a rural setting.
Since its inception, SMC has been facilitating the wellbeing of our patients and students by focusing on patient-centred care and outstanding clinical education. We deliver approximately 40,000 services to patients each year and support the community in a number of ways including participating in impact research as well as providing allied health care and specialist care from the Centre.

About the RoleAn exciting opportunity has become available for a Division 1, Registered Practice Nurse to join our dynamic and patient-focused team at SMC on a continuing, part-time (0.8 FTE) basis. Reporting to the Nurse team leader, the Practice Nurse is an integral part of the Centre’s team care approach and will be responsible for the provision of high quality nursing support at the Centre. The Practice Nurse works with the Medical Practitioners to provide efficient and effective primary health care to all patients, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and legislative requirements. The Practice Nurse also plays a role in the support and supervision or medical, nursing and other students within the centre.

About youEssential Selection Criteria
- A registered nursing qualification (Division 1) with current registration through the National Registration Board (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
- Demonstrated experience in providing nursing care (preferably some amount in primary health care)
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Willingness to learn and undertake relevant training to build skills in delivering quality health care
- Good IT skills and experience using a computerised appointment and medical management software package and MS Office products
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with and relate to people from all walks of life and with different cultural backgrounds
- Well-developed organisation and time management skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Good problem-solving and negotiation skills to enable the resolution of difficult or complex counter enquiries
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible to accommodate change and provide responsive services to meet patient and staff needs
Desirable
- Experience with Care Plans and Health Assessments
- Current specialisation in or capacity to train into specialisations such as:
- Immunisation provider
- Cervical Screening provider
- Asthma educator
- Wound management
- Ear irrigation
