Your Role:

As Principal Advisor, you will provide strategic policy advice, ability to work across a large complex agency, and ability to manage a small team. This role centres around the Reframing the Relationships between the Department of Education and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, parents, caregivers and the communities. Your leadership ability and highly developed written and communication skills will drive reform priorities and collaboration with others are integral to enhancing these vital connections.

Responsibilities include:

  • You will lead and provide strategic advice on key education policies that will shape the future of education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, parents and community.
  • Manage a small skilled policy team, fostering a collaborative environment where ideas flourish and are translated into effective policies. Your leadership will be crucial in mentoring and developing team members, ensuring high performance and adherence to public sector values.
  • Uphold the integrity and accountability standards. Your decisions and leadership will reflect our commitment to ethical practices and team management.
  • Play a key role in ensuring that our education systems are culturally competent and inclusive. Lead initiatives that respect and integrate diverse cultural perspectives and enhancing the education experience for all students.

About You:

If you are an experienced policy officer with well developed written ability, good management skills and ability to provide strategic policy advice, team player and demonstrated cross agency experience, we would love to hear from you.
