Job description

Location: Keswick, South Australia

About the role: 

The Principal Commercial Adviser is a key role in Aurizon's Bulk Operations. Working with a close-knit team of commercial specialists, you will provide expert reporting and analysis of key metrics that will drive operational, commercial and financial outcomes and business improvements.

Key responsibilities for the role include: 

  • Analyse and manage performance against business plans, make commercially sound decisions and manage incidents to achieve satisfactory resolutions.
  • Provide value-adding analysis by synthesising market and business research to develop options that will maximise commercial returns.
  • Manage the distribution of relevant reporting and analysis to meet the requirements of internal and external stakeholders and take a central role in complex negotiation using influence to maximise outcomes.
  • Monitor and manage the implementation of business improvement project activities in relation to scope, development, approvals, progress, cash flow and work quality to ensure they are completed to the required standard and forecasting within program budget constraints.
  • Identify and assist in the implementation of improvement initiatives. Driving business optimisation by providing expertise in the identification of opportunities to maximise value and minimise risk within the enterprise.
  • Provide relevant training and development to managers, teams and employees to build enterprise capability. 

About you:  

You have the ability to take initiative, a desire to achieve results, effective communication skills and the ability to manage diverse relationships. You’ll have:

  • Previous experience in commercial/finance analysis, with problem solving abilities, high level analytical skills and sound commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute multiple complex analyses simultaneously and work to deadlines and deliverables.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial and commercial factors impacting business operations, enabling the delivery of solutions that drive commercial value.
  • Previous experience managing projects or programs with demonstrated success in integrating new processes and initiatives into core business activities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including the ability to simplify and clearly articulate complex information to a range of audiences in a variety of mediums (word, ppt, excel and data visualisation tools).
  • High level of experience coaching and developing others while building effective, collaborative, and professional internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Previous Supply Chain Industry experience is advantageous however, not essential. Either of the following are also highly regarded:

  • Relevant tertiary degree.
  • CPA qualified or on way to completing.
