The Opportunity

As the HR Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the Human Resources department in delivering professional and efficient day-to-day HR operations, including end-to-end recruitment, high level administration, and other general HR responsibilities.


Some of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the HR Manager to provide a high level of expertise in all aspects of Human Resource Management;
  • Draft employment contracts/variations; 
  • Provide high quality data entry services to ensure accurate and comprehensive records are produced and maintained in the Human Resources records management system;
  • Monitor WorkCover claims;
  • Manager employee HR queries and requests as and when they arise;
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of human resource policies and procedures;
  • Administer detailed HR files for all employees;
  • Stay updated on current and emerging HR and industrial relations issues.
Your Skills & Experience
  • HR Degree or similar qualifications;
  • Previous experience in a HR generalist role;
  • Ability to travel to community one week every month;
  • Ability to exercise discretion at all times and, in particular, when dealing with confidential issues;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and build relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Effective written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, policies and procedures;
  • High level of computer skills, including experience in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people.
