Strategic Communication and Engagement (SCE) is seeking an AO7 Principal Communications and Marketing Officer to join the communications and marketing team on a full-time temporary basis, until 31 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.
The role will work with clients (internal and external) to develop a range of communication and marketing materials and activities that support the department to deliver its core services.

The Strategic Communication & Engagement (SCE) branch is responsible for the department's corporate communications, sponsorship and events as well as media and social media. Services provided by SCE ensures that the department has a strategic corporate communications framework and consistent approach to engaging with schools, members of the community, the media, business, and other government agencies.
About the Role
As a Principal Communications and Marketing Officer based in our CBD central office until 31 December, 2024 you will support the people of Queensland through the delivery of key communication and marketing services. The role provides an exciting opportunity for a competent and enthusiastic communications and marketing professional to deliver a range of communications and marketing projects and activities to education and corporate clients.
There are no mandatory qualifications for this role, however a minimum of two years' experience in delivering strategic communications and marketing services and advice is desirable.
Some after hours or weekend work to support the department's response to disasters and emergencies may be required.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead enterprise level communication and marketing processes, projects, and activities, and their respective budgets and resource allocations, ensuring liaison and consultation with key stakeholders.
- Foster and maintain professional, collaborative and respectful relationships with colleagues within the team, division and broader department.
- Mentor and coach team members with the goal of developing and enhancing team skills and team unity.
- Develop and implement innovative communication and marketing strategies to support and promote the work of the department.
- Deliver high quality, responsive communication and marketing services to a range of departmental clients and stakeholders within an account management framework.
- Prepare content and materials for a range of departmental channels including identify, prepare and distribute departmental good news.
- Identify emerging strategic issues that may affect the branch and the department, provide policy advice and assistance in implementing communication strategies and contribute to a creative, lateral and innovative approach to the business of the department.
