Principal Data Scientist

Randstad Digital has partnered with one of the world's largest ASX-listed mining companies! Our client is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join a dynamic team of data practitioners to focus on enhancing value and performance throughout the value chain by leveraging data, operational insights, and engineering expertise in performance improvement projects.Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

• Provide technical leadership to the team, ensuring high standards of performance and collaboration.
• Lead and manage analysis projects aimed at maximising value opportunities and improving performance across the value chain.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the clients data community, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Identify and articulate business requirements to address stakeholder problems effectively.
• Document, explain, and present analysis solutions clearly to both technical and senior business stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with site operations, business subject matter experts, data analytic professionals, and other Value Enhancement team members.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of performance through the application of data, operational, and engineering expertise.

Necessary Skills & Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience using Python for data science, within a total of 6+ years in analytics.
• 3+ years of experience working in the mining domain.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Dedication to achieving exceptional results with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
• Proven experience in providing technical leadership to teams, assisting in problem-solving and optimising analysis processes.
• Background in the mining, resource industry, or other heavy industries.
• Expertise in developing performance improvement solutions for business challenges, using data analysis, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques in Python to create business value with a strategic and practical approach.
• Proficiency with industry-standard analysis tools and methodologies, including data platforms, programming languages, and data analysis technologies.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders from various domains.

Additional valuable skills:

• Experience in engineering or management consulting.
• Project management expertise.
• Experience working in agile teams.
