About The Role
Mackay Regional Council is at the forefront of urban planning and sustainable development, and the growth of the region. As a Principal Development Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating the engineering components of regionally significant and complex development applications whilst coaching and developing future leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage engineering and technical staff within the Development Planning and Engineering Program and provide mentoring and leadership across the Program;
- Provide input into strategic and operational processes;
- Implement and manage a dynamic, innovate and passionate team culture, with a focus on exceptional customer experience to the community and development industry;
- Undertake the preliminary review and allocate applications and referrals for assessment to staff, and review the assessment of operational works applications;
- Provide details engineering advice on development application and prepare input into information requests and conditions; and
- Liaise and negotiate on planning matters with internal and external stakeholders.
- Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering or related field;
- QLD “C” class driver’s licence or interstate equivalent;
- Extensive experience in civil engineering including assessment and review;
- Experience in leading and managing a small team;
- Significant experience in the construction industry and/or working with construction related processes;
- Highly developed ability to assess, determine and oversee complex engineering proposals including roads, stormwater drainage and urban infrastructure; and
- Experience in town planning within Local Government will be highly regarded

- Base salary $107,820 + 10% above award payment for a maximum of three years + super + allowances
