About us
o The Electrical Safety Office helps to keep people electrically safe at work, at home and in the wider community. Our purpose is to prevent death, injury and destruction of property caused by electricity.
o We work towards our goal by monitoring and enforcing compliance with electrical safety laws, working with industry and the community to improve electrical safety, and providing education and information on electrical safety at work, the home and within the wider community.
Your contribution
The Principal Electrical Inspector (Equipment) works across the breadth of the electrical equipment supply chain (design, manufacture, wholesale, retail sale (including online suppliers) and use of electrical equipment.
We're looking for someone who:
o has significant experience in the electrical equipment safety field with relevant qualifications
o can critically analyse technical test reports to Australian safety standards for household appliances, and
o has experience in compliance
The role is located within the Electrical Equipment Safety Unit and specialises in researching and providing technical electrical equipment safety advice in relation to verifying electrical equipment meets legislative requirements, particularly equipment captured under the Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS). You will applying your technical experience and expertise to conduct compliance activities such as auditing Recognised External Certification Schemes, investigating potential breaches by responsible suppliers, examining exhibits involved in electrical fire or shock incidents, and supporting the greater inspectorate to secure compliance.
