The role
Reporting to the Manager, Statutory Reporting and Technical Advisory, the Principal Finance Officer provides leadership and expertise to ensure timely and accurate delivery of departmental general-purpose financial statements, compliance with legislative and prescribed requirements and Australian Accounting Standards, Queensland Treasury Reporting Requirements and providing specialist and professional advice.
The successful person
You will have demonstrated:
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the practical application of accounting standards, legislation, contemporary financial management practices and policies, with experience in providing comprehensive and all rounded advice to all levels of management and other stakeholders and in the development of policies, procedures and reporting mechanisms.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and success in the management of continuous improvement programs and initiatives in the areas of financial accounting.
- Demonstrated expertise in the use of contemporary financial management information technology, together with experience in the research, review, interpretation, and analysis of information and in formulating recommendations and reports to management.
- Demonstrated high level communication, interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills, with proven experience in coaching and effectively guiding other team members.
- Demonstrated high level of autonomy and flexibility in response to change and supports the workforce to embrace new expectations through clarity of the intended outcomes.
