About our opportunity

We are seeking a leader in all things Safety Compliance, assurance and systems to join our team!

We will look to you to build and lead the implementation of the Health and Safety Compliance and Assurance program, whilst leading a small team to deliver on these key objectives.

With a focus on developing, implementing and driving continuous improvement of a contemporary Wellbeing and Safety Management System, you will develop fit for purpose frameworks for monitoring, reporting and regulatory compliance based on the three lines of defence model. You'll also:

• Build tools and any supporting processes to introduce the framework into the business.
• Develop and lead the execution of 12 month internal and external Health and Safety audit program.
• Provide internal and external data to identify Health and Safety risks, emerging trends to inform continuous improvement initiatives within the Wellbeing and Safety Plan.
• Support the Safety Training Partner, establish HSE Learning Needs Analysis and training plans.
• Build capability within our leadership and W&S teams to proactively undertake and contribute to assurance activities. This may involve delivery of formal training programs, coaching and mentoring.

About you

Well versed in conducting complex audits and reviews you will be confident in providing value adding advice in respect to governance, internal controls, and risk management within the wellbeing and safety space.

You will be excited by the opportunity to drive this integral function for Council, and have a motivated proactive workflow management style ensuring audits are scheduled and completed within timeframes. You'll also have:

• Demonstrated knowledge in applicable WHS legislation, regulations and requirements.
• High level attention to detail combined with excellent analytical and research skills.
• Technical ability to quickly gain proficiency with our corporate systems. 
• Collaborative work style with a strong focus on providing a quality service to our stakeholders.
• Lead auditor qualification in OH&S Management Systems.
