ABOUT THE ROLEThis role is a 6-month fixed-term contract position on a Monday-to-Friday basis. This role will be based at our head office in Perth.As Principal Hygiene, this role provides hygiene management subject matter expertise across the South32 business to enable the business to adhere to the global Health and Risk Management standard, to support legal compliance and material-risk mitigation at operational level and mitigate business level material risks through the identification and delivery of strategic improvements projects.Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Provide technical (SME) advice on material hygiene matters to management, functional and operational teams across multiple geographic locations to support compliance with regulatory requirements, hygiene approvals and internal company standards
• Influence the strategic direction of the broader business with respect to hygiene management to reduce long-term risk exposure and promote enduring hygiene outcomes
• Provide input into the design of the global Hygiene Standard, and develop processes that support the effective deployment of the Standard across the business
• Monitor changes to legislative frameworks and industry standards relative to the discipline area/s, and instigate change management processes where required

ABOUT YOUYou will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Detailed knowledge of hygiene management processes and technologies, relevant industry standards (e.g. ICMM) and regulatory requirements across the Australia, South Africa and Columbian jurisdictions
• Site based hygiene experience and a mining background will be advantageous
• Participation in accident investigations with sound knowledge of the process involved
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships (face-to-face and remote)
• The ability to Influence decisions and performance at both the operational and management level through effective written and verbal communication

Qualifications for this position are:

• Bachelor Degree (Science / Engineering / Similar)
