The Principal Investigator Safety is responsible for the investigation of safety occurrences and incidents across the Qantas Group. This includes the analysis, identification and verification of contributing safety factors, risk assessment and investigative conclusions. Reporting into the Manager Group Investigations you will act as a mentor to the investigation team, providing coaching and development. Alongside this, you will plan, prepare and deliver quality safety investigation reports and continue to build a positive safety culture while balancing assurance priorities and operational delivery. As well as contributing to regulatory requirements, the position provides advice and communicates investigation outcomes to senior management.
What you’ll bring to the role:
  • 3+ years’ experience in a safety investigation role, ideally within aviation or another operational environment.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills at an executive level
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex analytical projects
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Successful completion of safety investigation training and/or safety management system training is highly desirable
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role in which you mentored a small team would be beneficial but not essential
