Your new role

This is an exciting opportunity to join IBAC's Operations Team as a Principal Investigator on an ongoing basis.

Reporting to the Manager, Investigations and working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Principal Investigator will conduct and lead investigations into certain allegations within the Victorian Public Sector and Victoria Police.

Duties include:

  • Lead, conduct and coordinate resources for complex investigations ensuring compliance with a range of legislative requirements, processes and industry standards.
  • Review investigation plans and monitor investigations ensuring adequate resources are available.
  • Initiate and build collaborative relationships across the organisation to ensure access to resources and commitment to investigation timelines.
  • Mentor members of the Investigations Unit by providing timely and constructive feedback, enabling the completion of investigations.

The operational requirements of Investigations mean work hours may be irregular and extended, including weekend work and after hours deployments when required. There is also a requirement for irregular travel within regional Victoria and interstate, including overnight stays. Investigations Unit staff are also required to demonstrate the flexibility to respond to dynamic operational requirements within a reasonable timeframe.

Please note: these positions are based in Melbourne, Victoria. The successful candidates must be based in, or intend to relocate to, Victoria.

We are looking for candidates with the below capabilities and qualities:

The preferred candidate will have formal qualifications and/or training in investigations or a related discipline and extensive experience in the conduct of sensitive and complex investigations. Additionally, we are looking for candidates who have:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management within a complex environment
  • Ability to conduct duties with impartiality, honesty, and professionalism
  • Collaborative team player with an agile and flexible, can-do attitude
