About the role
Reporting into the Manager, Legal Services (Commercial, Property and Insurance), this role is a rare opportunity for someone desiring varied, stimulating, career-enhancing work and the chance to make their mark in an organisation undergoing growth and transformation.
In this role you will provide expert legal advice and support in relation to commercial contracts (including ICT contracts), MOUs, leases, licences, procurement and probity, privacy, intellectual property, risk management, insurance, and general compliance matters.
As a senior member of the NHVR’s Legal Services team, you will:
- Mentor and train less experienced Legal Services team members.
- Develop and maintain legal precedents.
- Provide guidance and training about legal concepts to the rest of the organisation.
- Manage the engagement of external legal advisors, ensuring value for money and quality legal services are delivered on time and within budget.

About You
We’re excited to meet people who:
- Are admitted as a legal practitioner of the High Court or Supreme Court of a State or Territory.
- Have at least 7 years’ experience as a legal practitioner in commercial and/or leasing (ideally for a large national or government tenant).
- Have worked in an in-house role in a commercial, government or statutory authority environment and some mid-tier/top-tier law firm experience.
You will demonstrate initiative and attention to detail, as well as an ability to work with minimal supervision and contribute to the achievement of team goals. With a positive and flexible attitude, you will enjoy working in a fast paced, high-volume environment with multiple competing priorities and ambiguity.
Along with your excellent written and oral communication skills, you will have the ability to effectively negotiate with and influence a diverse range of people with a view to achieving desired outcomes and improving overall organisational maturity. An ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with internal clients and external stakeholders will see you thrive in this role.
