Work Location: Fortescue Centre, Perth OR Fortescue Office, Singapore

Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday - Friday

The Sales and Marketing function at Fortescue is responsible for developing and implementing Fortescue's marketing strategy, coordinating and supporting regional sales offices, negotiating iron ore prices and commercial agreements, managing ongoing scheduling, and conducting market analysis.

We are seeking a commercially driven international Marketing Professional, based in Perth or Singapore, who will report to the Group Manager Global Sales. The Global Sales desk is responsible for all Fortescue ex-China market sales, all spot sales and RMB port sales in China. We are seeking candidates for Principal Marketing and subject to experience the successful applicant will be responsible for some of the key responsibilities of the Global Sales desk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize Fortescue's spot sales strategy.

  • Ensure spot sales activity optimizes the short, medium, and long-term portfolio value.

  • Determine the "appropriate" sales volume (monthly, quarterly, and annually)

  • Optimize the value of every tonne sold through rigorous analysis and segmentation.

  • Identify the most appropriate sales channels (bilateral, platforms, tender, strips etc)

  • Liaise with iron ore sales platforms to ensure product can be placed on the platform when required.

  • Conduct short-term market analysis to improve marketing decision making and product allocations.

  • Regular market/customer engagement to ensure Fortescue understands customer needs and market developments.

  • Work closely to share insights with Industry Analysis, Technical Marketing, Scheduling, RMB Port Sales teams and the sales account managers.

  • Develop and contribute to the monthly USD term contract price recommendation

  • Analyse market trends, spot sales, and competitor sales.

  • Review/track daily/weekly trade publications.

  • Negotiate and conclude various term and spot sales & relevant freight fixtures with non-China customers.

  • Maximize volume, market share, freight value capture and price realization.

  • Ensure sales approach is aligned with current marketing strategy.

  • Ensure all contracts / amendments are properly drafted, reviewed, performed, and documented.

  • Account Management of Fortescue sales to international traders and Fortescue's trading entity in Shanghai.

  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders both internal and external. Internal stakeholders will include the broader sales and marketing, shipping and integrated planning teams with external stakeholders including customers, traders, industry experts and price reporting agencies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, economics, engineering, or related disciplines

  • Strong knowledge of iron ore market dynamics and industry experience.

  • Export finance (LCs), logistics/shipping (incoterms, laytime), Marketing & Sales principles

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience preparing reports for senior leadership

  • Expert knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint with some experience in the use of Anaplan and DSM

  • Minimum experience of +5 years of sales and marketing in iron ore or related bulk commodity business.

  • Ability to organise and manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and achieve goals

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Team-player with solid communication skills

  • A flexible mindset, with a willingness to positively challenge traditional thinking..
