Manage the Mine Closure activites for a Mining Owner-Operator. Brisbane Corporate position.
The ClientOur client is a multi-national gold producer with significant functionality/presence on the East Coast of Australia. The majority of their mining operations are within the Asia-Pacific region, as well as other significant assets in North America.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Group Manager, Environment (Brisbane Corporate), this position will have a 70/30 split/focus on Mine Closure activities (70%) and Global Environmental Compliance across their mining operations (30%). You will be coordinating and managing the delivery of a mine relinquishment multi-year work program, and supporting the implementation of the global environmental management plan.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review technical scopes of work to progress solutions for Mine Closure and relinquishment,
- Directly manage and oversee consultants and contractors in the delivery of these technical scopes of work,
- Contaminated land, water quality, and ecological assessments,
- Update Mine Closure criteria, plans, and schedules,
- Coordinate and manage the delivery of all regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring standards are met/exceeded via timely submission to the regulator,
- Stakeholder engagement and regular/consistent communicaton with the regulator (very important).
- Relevant qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering, and/or an environmentally-related discipline,
- Mine closure experience is a must (operational or consultational exp),
- Metalliferous or non-metalliferous mining background (coal background is perfectly ok),
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to manage consultants (as you require them),
- Knowledge of tailings dam and contaminated land solutions would be held in high regard as well,
- Must live/work/reside/relocate to/in Brisbane.
