ABOUT PERTH OFFICE
South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a permanent position on a Monday-to-Friday basis. This role will be based at our head office in Perth.
As Principal Mine Planning (Projects & Studies), your key responsibility will be the Mine Planning lead for Major Projects and Concept Studies identified through the Life of Operation Plan development path for South32 operations.
- Lead the delivery of the required Mine Planning deliverables for Major Projects and Concept Studies
- Provide input and revision to the project/studies charters and scoping documents to ensure that Mine Planning requirements are adequately scoped
- Determine Mine Planning scope and resourcing required for projects/studies and ensure Mine Planning assumptions and mine plans are aligned to internal Mine Planning processes and project/study governance framework and standards
- Manage project and study stakeholder relationships and applies appropriate identification and assessment of risks related to Mine Planning within the project/study
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Extensive Mine Planning experience including Mine Planning Projects for both open pit/cast and underground operations
- Demonstrated experience in mining-related projects and studies
- Strong and effective communication and engagement skills to work at all levels of the business
- Experience in working effectively cross-functionally whilst maintaining high standards of professional and ethical conduct
- Significant operational production experience advantageous
Qualifications for this position are:
- Relevant degree or higher in Mining Engineering (or equivalent)
