The Principal Policy Analyst analyses disaster management policy to develop implementation recommendations and promote active collaboration across all disaster management sector stakeholders to optimise how policy is operationalised within the disaster management sector.
- Employ structured planning techniques to conduct policy analysis and provide qualified advice and / or recommendations to the Director and/or General Manager Integration and Coordination Division.
- Design realistic and practical implementation plans and where required, lead the first stage implementation process for state-wide initiatives, or facilitate implementation with QRA teams.
- Anticipate risks and unintended consequences and identify effective mitigation strategies.
- Utilise strong communication skills to ensure a consistent approach to interrelated planning, engagement and implementation activities.
- Promote collaboration across state, local and federal government, private sector, academia, and non-government organisations to share disaster management best practices and to facilitate optimised recovery and resilience policy implementation.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of current and emerging state disaster management policy, available funding arrangements and opportunities and urgent priorities as well as State and Federal Government systems and structures.
You'll work in the Integration and Coordination Division which drives an integrated and coordinated approach to QRA's service delivery, ensuring the best possible recovery and resilience outcomes for Queensland communities.
The Division works with QRA's leadership team to support the coordination of QRA external engagement and service delivery functions and to drive improved engagement and collaboration with all stakeholders. Importantly, the Division draws on organisational expertise and experience, along with key stakeholders across state, local and federal government, private sector, academia, non-government organisations to influence the wider policy agenda, and ensure that QRA continues to be an internationally recognised, national leader.
