About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and high-performing individual with knowledge of the gambling industry that has the ability to pick up content quickly, manage tight deadlines and deliver law reform on behalf of the Government. 

This will require briefing Senior Officials and Members of Parliament, demonstrating strong political nous, leading stakeholder consultation and managing complex and sensitive matters to deliver solutions. 

Sound decision making, strategic thinking and strong interpersonal skills will be required to foster effective stakeholder and working relationships to inform Government policy and meet agreed timeframes.

The Regulatory Services Branch within CBS is seeking interest from individuals with knowledge of the gambling industry that adapt quickly to changing and emerging priorities, problem solve, develop effective working relationships and take responsibility for the coordination and delivery of quality and timely results.

Regulatory Services’ key responsibilities include:

Providing an informative, consistent and responsive service through the provision of high-level strategic advice to, and on behalf of, senior officials, Ministers and the South Australian Government.

Developing and delivering legislative and policy reform on behalf of the Minister for Consumer and Business Affairs, Attorney-General and Commissioner that is in line with the Government's broader strategy and priorities.

Consumer and Business Services (CBS) employs around 200 staff and our primary purpose is to facilitate business, protect consumers and record life events. CBS currently comprises eight branches, with two points of executive oversight.

CBS constitutes a large part of South Australia’s business/consumer regulatory system and is the regulator for many businesses and professions.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD. 

Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
