Job description

The purpose of these roles is to lead and manage the successful delivery of digital and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) clinical imaging and telestroke initiatives that contribute to positive clinical and patient outcomes across Metro North Health and the State.

This includes providing leadership to multidisciplinary project teams including project team members, internal service providers and external vendors to drive high quality, timely and cost-effective delivery of required activities to establish the Queensland Telestroke Service and Clinical Imaging Repository within the HHS, and to upgrade/implement the ViewPoint and Chest X-Ray AI clinical imaging solutions.

Reporting to the Delivery Stream Lead under the Director, Digital Portfolio Services, this will include the implementation of new digital solutions, and uplift and enhancement to existing digital solutions and infrastructure and the delivery of transformational clinical imaging capability and a statewide telestroke service. These roles will require extensive engagement with clinical and business stakeholders of all levels across the organisation and will work collaboratively with stakeholders across a broad range of clinical disciplines to ensure quality outcomes for DMN customers.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead a team of project management resources in delivery key projects including all facets of performance, reporting and implementation.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of complex and high-risk projects to ensure project outcomes are achieved and enterprise solutions are delivered that are responsive to customer needs.
  • Ensure project outcomes are achieved and project management capability is maintained through leading, managing and directing multi-disciplinary project team/s, internal service providers and vendors.
  • Provide expert advice and strategic input into the development of project deliverables to ensure they meet quality standards and comply with Queensland Health policies, strategies and architecture.
  • Ensure projects are managed in accordance with best practice guidelines and Queensland Health's formal project management (PM) approach and methodologies to enable the achievement of consistent and quality project outcomes.
  • Initiate, influence and maintain effective working relationships with and between key internal and external stakeholders facilitating effective communication channels to ensure the successful delivery of projects including feedback mechanisms and management of expectations.
  • Manage projects by overseeing the monitoring and reporting of project related trends and performance against project plans and budgets.
  • Enable informed decision making on project issues by developing timely and relevant written submissions, briefs, presentations and information papers for project stakeholders.
  • All staff are responsible for identifying, managing and reporting risks relating to their project and work.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe, services and workplaces.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role and behave in a manner that is consistent with core values of Metro North Health following defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Project Management expertise - Demonstration of planning and delivery (including procurement), clinical and/or capital works related projects; complex large delivery environment, digital/ICT projects.
  • Leadership and multi-disciplinary team management - Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams (including internal resources, service delivery partners and vendors), mentoring in PM practices/processes, ensuring uplift/standard of PM discipline across the project which is consistent with DMN and QH project management framework and requirements.
  • Stakeholder management and negotiation - Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain options, challenges, performance, project deliverables and services in business terms. This should include a commitment to deliver collaboratively and cultivate productive working relationships with proven negotiation, consultation and facilitation skills with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Governance and Methods - Proven experience in effective project management including appropriate use and knowledge of PRINCE/Agile; gated assurance, reporting and PPM tools (e.g. scheduling). This should include preparing submissions, facilitating approvals and providing advice/submissions to working groups and governance committees on project activities, progress and risks/issues in line with DMN and QH governance and assurance requirements.
  • Problem solving and innovation - Ability to quickly identify issues/ options/ proposed solutions to ensure project delivery; problem solving and working with a broad range of diverse stakeholders. Out-of-box thinking/approaches while ensuring appropriate governance and agreement.
  • Clinical / imaging and health expertise - Previous experience in the delivery of clinical and imaging related projects (software, hardware, integration and/or infrastructure) within a healthcare setting or environment highly valued. Experience with Queensland Health systems highly valued.

Highly Regarded Experience:

  • Previous experience and knowledge of clinical solutions, clinical system implementation and clinical data migration processes, particularly in hospitals and/or Queensland Health
  • Relevant certification, degree or tertiary qualifications in Project and Program Management (e.g. Prince 2, PMP, Agile).
  • Ability to travel across Metro North Health as required
