The role
The role involves ensuring adherence to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies, and procedures to guarantee the provision of high-quality, safe services and workplaces. As a key member of the team, you will provide expert advice on the Mental Health Act 2016, focusing on the rights of individuals with mental illness. Collaborating closely with the Chief Psychiatrist, you will lead the review of MHAAT processes, aligning them with legislation and policy to enhance regulatory reform frameworks and facilitate efficient service delivery.
Additionally, you will liaise with Mental Health services and government departments, oversee statutory officer reports, and play a lead role in instructing legal representatives in individual consumer matters before the Mental Health Court. Your active contribution to policy development, compliance monitoring, and education resources will be crucial in ensuring effective administration of the Mental Health Act 2016.
The successful person
To excel in this position, it is essential to possess advanced expertise in the stipulations of the Mental Health Act 2016 and legislation pertinent to individuals with disabilities. This includes a comprehensive understanding of issues related to safeguarding the rights of Mental Health service consumers, while effectively managing workloads within a high demand setting to fulfill the Chief Psychiatrist's responsibilities under the Mental Health Act 2016. Moreover, a detailed understanding of the interplay between the Mental Health and criminal justice systems is required.
Additionally, the successful candidate should exhibit top-notch project management capabilities and highlight proven interpersonal, liaison, verbal, and written communication skills. This encompasses the ability to adeptly negotiate and communicate on behalf of the agency with senior internal and external stakeholders in a sensitive and intricate work environment, demonstrating proficiency in managing stakeholder relationships.
