The opportunity
As a Principal Scientist you will have an important role in driving the Seqwater portfolio of works across the Land Restoration team, influencing key decision makers, actively sharing expertise, and applying the latest scientific knowledge. The Land Restoration team deliver a range of projects, with this role focussing on building consistency and quality across the Seqwater portfolio of programs which address environmental threats to protect water quality and improve the condition of South East Queensland’s environment. This is a full-time role offered as a 24-month contract initially.
Your responsibilities will include…
- Delivering scientific project management solutions through application of knowledge and expertise across all programs and projects
- Introducing new methodologies and significant scientific process improvements within discipline
- Finding solutions to difficult scientific problems that improve standards
- Acting as the principal authority in specific scientific field
- Contributing to the production of high-quality interpretative and technical reports and using appropriate peer review protocols
- Collaborating with other scientific and non-scientific teams across the organisation
- Providing leadership and guidance to other scientists in accordance with quality standards
About You
Ideally, you will share our vision to lead the change that will deliver an environment for future generations to thrive. You will be highly motivated and can work autonomously in agreed timeframes. To be successful in this role, you will have all or many of the following requirements:
- A science degree in a relevant discipline and applied practical experience and technical expertise
- Extensive experience delivering environmental conservation programs
- High level technical writing ability that is adaptable to different audiences
- High level stakeholder engagement skills, across landholders, government, research, First Nations and the community
- QLD driving licence
