About the opportunity
On a day-to-day basis, the Principal Shareholder Policy Advisor’s responsibilities will include:
- the provision of advice on the impact of Government business operations on Government policy objectives and proposed strategies to support the achievement of those objectives;
- developing a good understanding of the operating environment of Government businesses, and developing and maintaining effective relationships with senior officers of Government businesses;
- undertaking research, investigation and analysis of financial, economic, legal and other non-financial information in relation to the performance, accountability and governance of Government businesses;
- the undertaking of governance administrative responsibilities; and
- preparing briefs, correspondence, submissions, reports and other documentation on a wide range of issues.
The primary role of the Shareholder Policy and Markets Branch is to provide good advice to the Government on the operation and strategic direction of Government businesses and associated whole-of-government policy, projects and issues. The Branch is also responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the Government business governance regime and managing the Government’s interaction with international credit rating agencies.
