As a Principal Software Engineer within Payments Technology- PaaS, you will be responsible for implementing the designs within your application to align to PaaS Architecture. You will lead, drive, promote, engineer and develop solutions and guide design to drive outcomes across the Core Product Systems within PaaS. You are responsible for design analysis and the estimation process from business case, ideation, and discovery through to inception phases.
You will produce a unique set of PaaS products to deliver enterprise scale frameworks to meet our needs for cost effective, reliable, and auditable outcomes. You will do hands-on development, alongside driving continuous improvements to the tools and processes that automate the delivery of code through Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines, which include coding, building, testing, and deployment capabilities of these pipelines.

- Passionate about coding and building industry leading PAAS products and APIs from scratch for complex landscape of Payments services provided by the Bank by using modern tech stack
- Experienced in building things from ground-up and can influence the product stakeholders with confidence, while driving the technical roadmap with cross-collaborative crews and teams!
- Ready to execute state-of-the-art coding practices, driving high quality outcomes to solve core business and minimise risks
- Capable of creating both technology blueprints and engineering roadmaps, for a multi- year payments transformational journey in building cloud first payments solutions!
- Curious design thinkers that break boundaries to solve complex API problems with an Agility focused mindset
- Naturally driven to engage, consult, influence, educate and provide technology advice to senior stakeholders, with an innate ability to coach and mentor leaders and other team members.
We are seeking a Principal Engineer with solid background in software engineering. Natural team leaders that love to code and that can influence engineering leadership teams, technical crews and senior stakeholders with their passion for driving cloud first PAAS solutions at scale would be ideal for this role!
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks, but we do not expect you to know them all. Experience or exposure with some of these(or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team:
- Strong full stack, software coding in Java, TypeScript, APIs
- Cloud first payments - AWS services (AWS lambda, AWS Cloud, API gateways)
- DevOps best practices, CI/CD tooling - Github, Teamcity, Docker, Kubernetes
- Monitoring and logging tools – Splunk, AppDynamics, Cloud Watch Canary
- Kotlin will be a plus but not mandatory!
