Focus of the Role
Reporting to the Chief Architect, Principal Enterprise Architect proactively and holistically helps and guides the enterprise leaders, product managers, product owners and distributed product delivery teams through transformation and optimisation initiatives, supporting the formulation of business strategy, outcomes, and capabilities. The enterprise architect’s scope of activities includes helping Telstra achieve targeted business outcomes related to growing revenue, optimising costs, mitigating risks, and improving sustainability.

What You’ll Do
Global Networks & Technology - Chief Architect CoE leads Telstra's technical architecture team, ensuring Telstra's technology solutions are aligned with its business strategy.

• You will construct technology-enabled business and operating models and provide viable solution options and visibility into execution issues.
• You will be ‘hands-on’ Architecture leader, working in missions on End-to-End complex problems, spanning across the Telstra Group, designing solutions and architecture.
• You will participate in the company-wide adoption of architecture practices supporting the Chief Architect.
• Act as a leading subject matter expert to identify, develop, and improve the technical and business architecture to meet current and future business and operational requirements across multiple domains.
• You will collaborate with delivery teams to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture, and leverage shared technologies, tools and processes that impact speed to value and time to market.
• Authentically engage with and influence key technology partners and/or business stakeholders to develop architecture and engineering guidelines with vendors that align with the relevant company’s development and operational requirements.
• Provide guidance and make strategic decisions applying your technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and lessons learned to address complex and ambiguous issues and remove blockers for your team.

About You
Credentials and Experience

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis, or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
• Substantial experience in at least three disciplines, such as business, information, solution or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management, or operations in a multitier environment.

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics.
• Extensive experience in Network Strategy development, covering Vendor and Technology selection, multi-layer network traffic modelling, commercial modelling, and ongoing Planning, Design, and Deployment Processes.
• Comprehensive understanding of business, operating, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, and risk management.
• Proficiency in enterprise architecture tools, graphical models, frameworks, and insight into information management practices, system development life cycle, IT services management, agile, lean methodologies, infrastructure, and operations.

• Exceptional analytical, planning, and organisational skills and political acumen for navigating enterprise obstacles.
• Balances long-term vision and short-term goals, considering individual decisions and organisational objectives.
• Estimates financial impacts of EA alternatives and creatively applies multiple solutions to address business problems.
