Job Summary

This is an exciting role within our growing ANZ Sustainability Practice, working across our Buildings + Places team, based in our Melbourne office. With a history of working on some of the most influential infrastructure, building and policy projects, our team comprises passionate specialists working collectively and virtually across Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland and Wellington.

Our sustainability team is working on some of the largest and most impactful projects in the ANZ region and further afield, and with recent major project wins and the launch of our new sustainable legacies strategy ( ), we're growing again.

We are seeking a Principal Sustainability Consultant with a proven capability in delivering solutions across a range of project scales, clients and sectors. Our team comprises a group of experienced, passionate and engaged professionals and is looking forward to welcoming a like-minded collaborative individual to the team. This is an opportunity for you to work on a wide range of building and precinct developments, as well as broader policy related projects with continuous support from our ESD team and local leadership.

As a Principal Sustainability Consultant in our Melbourne office, you will drive the development of innovative sustainability solutions which reflect optimal environmental outcomes, while balancing client objectives, as well as numerous other activities, including:

  • Responsibility for managing, leading and planning project workflows and delivering on commitments to the highest standard.
  • Leading the delivery of projects to achieve excellent sustainability outcomes for environmental regeneration and improved user productivity and wellness.
  • Supporting all team members across our national team, and internationally when required.
  • Utilising your strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver both internal and external service offerings.
  • Providing mentoring to our team members as they grow their careers and expand their skills base.

Minimum Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Sustainability, the Built Environment or other relevant discipline;
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal);
  • A client facing and outcome oriented approach to project delivery, including project management skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing technical design documentation, and tender bidding materials;
  • Demonstrable and proven experience in a sustainability focused role, preferably within the Built Environment and with a consultancy background;
  • A passion and drive for a sustainable future, continuing professional development and fostering industry change;
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members and grow their consulting and technical skillsets;
  • Confident and proven understanding and knowledge of the local market, including current industry trends, projects and legislation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of building engineering systems and HVAC, and including energy and other modelling skillsets such as daylight, thermal comfort, natural ventilation etc. Experience with the use of parametric simulation tools is well regarded.
  • A strong knowledge of relevant legislation, building and planning codes, notable sustainability policies and standards (e.g., Victorian Health Building Authority) and environmental rating and assessment systems.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and leading client interaction and stakeholder engagement. Ability and drive to mentor within the team is a desired capability.
