ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role you will deliver specialised sustainability risk management support across Origin’s broad range of teams, operations and assets by building relationships with senior leaders and focussing on anticipating, preventing and mitigating risks associated with the delivery of Origin’s sustainability, environmental and social strategy. This will be underpinned by adherence to Origin’s Risk Framework.
This role provides an opportunity to work across an integrated energy company, leading the energy transition in Australia including just transition of assets and people, building large scale renewable energy projects and developing new and innovative customer and climate solutions.
You will use your business acumen, risk knowledge, experience in sustainability and strong stakeholder engagement skills to support stakeholders in developing and manage a complete profile of sustainability risks in line with global standards and best practices.
More about the role:
-Act as a true Business Partner – Partner with Business Unit and Function leadership teams to support the the completness of the risk profile and adequacy of the critical control portfolio to effectively manage risks in to achieve our sustainability, environmental and social objectives and meet sustainability reporting standards.
-Be a Sustainability Risk Technical Expert – Provide technical and contemporary risk expertise in sustainability risk management at Origin, integrating industry trends to manage risk and opportunities related to climate change, biodiversity, water, land, community, ESG reporting, and human rights.
-Design the sustainability risk and control framework – Support the design of an integrated sustainability risk framework through research, analysis, application of regulatory and legislative requirements.
-Uplift risk culture and capability – Drive a risk-based culture through training and coaching and integration of risk management into core business processes.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you will come with experience in sustainability, climate or environmental risk management, preferably in the energy sector, with the ability to assess effectiveness and efficacy of a risk control environment and identify control gaps and recommend appropriate improvement actions.
You will have proven ability to work with a range of stakeholders to implement change and are effective at building strong relationships.
More about you:
-Understanding of risk management, including identification, assessment and treatment and relevant risk management standards (e.g. ISO31000).
-Understanding of key sustainability reporting and governance requirements (e.g. the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures and United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals).
-Agility and ability to work creatively and analytically in decision making and problem-solving environments.
-Awareness of internal and external factors impacting Origin and the Australian energy industry.
