Principal Sustainability Officer - Facilities Management Services

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Principal Sustainability Officer to lead the Utilities and Sustainability team within Facilities Management Services, on a permanent full-time basis.

The successful applicant will be responsible for policy and procedure implementation across a range of sustainability initiatives and matters related to school utility payments, including managing governance arrangements and budget processes, and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and agencies.

About the Role

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Providing specialist advice on utilities and sustainability matters to internal and external stakeholders.
• Managing stakeholder relationships, budget and reporting requirements relevant to the department's utilities funding arrangements.
• Managing external partnerships and governance relating to relevant sustainability strategies and programs.

• Effective communication, consultation and negotiation skills with ability to represent the department and to establish and maintain productive partnerships with customers, team members and other stakeholders.
• Ability to research, interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures, partnership agreements and MOUs.
• Ability to inspire, lead and develop members of the team to help them realise their full potential.
• Someone with a passionate and enthusiastic demeanour, who is driven and motivated to achieve sustainability outcomes.
• Ability to work independently, and remain composed during high-stakes situations, taking responsibility to ensure sensitive situations are resolved within a timely manner.

The following attribute is advantageous but not mandatory:

• Knowledge of whole of government sustainability strategies and targets.
