The Australia Sector has more than 1,200 employees operating across four countries, namely Australia, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom.The team at QinetiQ are anticipating a number of roles that we will be recruiting for, and as such, we are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Engineering Services division, based in Sydney.As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for working as part of a team supporting governance and delivery of Navy's Sea Release Assurance Framework (SRAF). You will be responsible for supporting our customer in collating, distributing and analysing Objective Quality Evidence to support Navy Sea Release Boards for individual Fleet Elements, and multiple Fleet Elements forming a maritime Task Group. Assistance in supporting Sea Release Board deliberations on the Seaworthy and Battleworthy state of the Fleet Elements, and the documentation of those decisions, is critical to the role.Additional responsibilities include:
- The on-going evaluation and contribution to improvements for the Fleet Seaworthiness Directorate SRAF Management Plan and SRAF Policy
- Development, implementation and amendment of Sea Release Assurance Programs for new and existing Fleet Elements and Task Groups to meet Fleet operational requirements and the introduction of new capabilities into operational service
- Identifying, compiling, analysing and retaining data in support of SRAF functions and operational requirements, including the management of databases retaining such data and the decisions made based on that data
- Coordinating SRAF schedules and functions to support the Sea Release Assurance Programs, and day to day SRAF Management Cell activities
- Supporting development and delivery of SRAF education and awareness campaigns for SRAF Management Cell customers and Sea Release Assurance Program participants
- Provide support to the SRAF Management Cell in maintaining the effectiveness and currency of the Seaworthiness Management Assurance Reporting Tool
- Liaising with stakeholders to transition SRAF Business Management System processes and applications under the Defence Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program
- Support to development and delivery of SRAF documentation and deliverables, including SRAF Management Plan amendments and improvements, SRAF Policy amendments and improvements, Sea Release Assurance Programs, SRAF education and awareness campaigns
- Management of SRAF data, documentation and databases for accuracy, currency, quality and applicability
- Coordination of Sea Release Assurance Programs, SRAF schedules and programmes to meet Fleet and Project Delivery requirements
- Maintaining the effectiveness and currency of the Seaworthiness Management Assurance Reporting Tool
- Supporting transition of the Seaworthiness Management Assurance Reporting Tool and other SRAF business management processes under the Defence ERP program
- Providing secretarial duties for SRAF Management Cell meetings, Sea Release Boards and Battleworthiness Boards
- Supporting the collection, collation, recording and distributing Objective Quality Evidence in support of the Sea Release Assurance Programs, SRAF schedules and programmes, Sea Release Boards and Battleworthiness Boards
- Stakeholder liaison in undertaking the above
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (other qualifications will be judged individually, if accompanied with relevant industry experience)
- High level knowledge and skills in Systems Engineering management tools and methodologies
- Previous experience in Defence or Defence related industry
- Knowledge of the Defence Seaworthiness Management System Manual
- Understanding of Navy's Sea Release Assurance Framework processes
- System safety management experience
- Worked as part of a team delivering capability outcomes to meet external priorities
- Experience using Excel, Power Bi and other data and database management tools
- Experience with Defence ICT Systems and security, data storage, data distribution and data management systems, policies and processes
- Knowledge of or experience with Navy Information Management System applications
- Ability to manage competing priorities and respond to emerging business needs
- Experience in change activities and programs in a complex environment
