Privacy Coordinator

Anglicare are currently hiring for a Permanent Privacy Coordinator to join our team based in Fortitude Valley. This role is being hired on a Full Time basis but the team may be open to discussion on Part Time working conditions.

In this role, you will provide specialist advice and oversee the implementation of the Privacy Management Frameworks and ensure appropriate governance, structure, accountability and processes are applied.
  
The Privacy Coordinator will provide specialist advice and manage privacy obligations as required under Privacy Laws including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the associated Privacy Principles and where relevant, the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and other legislation relating to handling of information relating to services and undertakings provided by Anglicare Southern Queensland (Anglicare). The function includes providing mechanisms and oversight for responding to requests for information. 

Your role in supporting Anglicare will include:

• Review policies, procedures and practices in relation to privacy obligations.
• Develop and implement privacy management frameworks, policies, procedures, templates, systems and processes.
• Ensure the policies and procedures address the requirements of associated acts, principles and  other relevant legislation.
• Provide expert advice on privacy issues affecting the organisation, managing reporting and undertake investigations.
• Support frontline staff with timely advice, practical tools and training
• Oversee requests for information (involving privacy) from clients, family members and external stakeholders.
• Maintain registers and ensure records are managed appropriately
• Work in partnership with key stakeholders including legal services where required to ensure risks are appropriately considered and addressed.

What you will bring to the role

• Extensive practical working knowledge and experience in privacy management including application Privacy Laws including Privacy Principles and responding to information requests and the disclosure or personal and sensitive information.
• Excellent working knowledge, understanding and application of the requirements of Privacy Laws including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the associated Privacy Principles, the notifiable Data Breaches Scheme and where relevant, the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and other legislation relating to handling of information relating to services and undertakings provided by Anglicare
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex information requests from clients, family members and external stakeholders including responding to statutory authorities, regulators, regulatory notices and court issued documents such as subpoenas and maintaining registers with demonstrated ability in providing accurate and practical advice
• Excellent working knowledge and demonstrated success in policy governance including developing and implementing frameworks, policies, systems and processes

This role also requires

• National Criminal History Check (or ability to attain)
• Ability and willingness to travel within the service region
